Forward-thinking, full-service creativity

TRANSLATED TO A PRINT & VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE

OPPORTUNITY

Affirm the stature of a trusted, full-service partner as a forward-thinking creative force.

Some people send out wallet-size photos of their babies. I decided to send a VR kit of mine instead.

MY ROLE

I was responsible for coming up with the big idea and creating a budget and scheduling hours for team members to contribute to this project. I directed design and copywriting efforts as well. It wouldn't have happened without Carolyn Reilley (print design), Brooke Griggs (digital design), Kelly Robinson (development) and the rest of the Domino team. 360-degree photos were shot by Rob Lindquist.

Domino is my baby. It's a creative agency that I've built with my two business partners, John Williamson and Pat Fauntleroy. We wanted to start 2018, The Year of the Dog, by energizing all of our clients and strategic partners with some kind of gift. What we did not want is to simply wine and dine like many other service providers might do. Instead, we viewed this as an opportunity to thank clients for a year of incredible growth, introduce them to new team members and spark conversations about new projects.

The most forward-thinking (and cost-effective) way to bring clients into our world was virtual reality. It's something we knew several clients were interested in but afraid of. With this kit, we were able to show clients it's not so scary.  Even better, we crafted this notion into our message reframing The Year of the Dog as The Year of the Underdog. The final product incorporates a physical and digital experience for an unforgettable impact.

who doesn't love an underdog?

Our sweet spot at Domino is meeting business owners at transformative points and working with them to go from underdog to overachiever. I went heavy on this for The Year of the Dog, but I also asked the team to go deep with it in the VR photos.

Each photo showed the whole team in a circle where each member was holding a response to questions about what we learned in 2017 and how we planned to grow in 2018. Check out the digital counterpart here.

someone got a little too excited

Did you know shortened Google links are case-sensitive? Well, they are. After printing, assembling and shipping all these kits, we realized the link was dead.

It was one restless Friday night, but I went to work immediately to figure out what the problem was. I designed and wrote an HTML email for all of the gift recipients. The response we received showed an accident can actually be happy, and it's all about how you deal with it.
