MY ROLE

I designed all of the pages shown. Illustrations are my own as well. Most of these packages are solo work, but all of them were enhanced with feedback from others, especially Gannett's Jeff Ruble and Ryan Hildebrandt.

I cut my teeth in newsprint, and no, it didn't take as long as that might sound.

As a college freshman, I got people's blood boiling and made people laugh with editorial cartoons. This turned into designing pages, writing, copyediting and eventually sitting at the Editor-in-Chief desk. Long story short, I'm into grammar the same way some people are into college basketball.

 

My first job was designing and illustrating for Gannett, a big ol' publishing company, and some of its 100+ daily print products. Talk about a perfect first job: I can't imagine another setting where I'd get more experience developing creative concepts, paying close attention to detail, balancing requests of multiple stakeholders and managing sometimes impossible deadlines.
